Thank you for visiting my new site! It’s been very busy since winning the first Gold Medal for the U.S.A. in 62 years in 4-man Bobsledding. Team Night Train and I have been traveling the country sharing the victory with everyone we meet and the reception has been overwhelming.
From dropping the puck at a Buffalo Sabres game, to flying in an F-16, to meeting President Obama it has been one amazing ride! Well, one more if you count the ride down the Whistler Bobsled Track going over 95 mph.

As a child, one of Steve Mesler’s fondest memories was the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games. Along with his sister Leigh, he watched the track and field athletes and ran up to them after their events, trying to get an autograph or a picture.

(August 9, 2010) Steve was recently notified he will be inducted into the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame during next year’s induction ceremony on March 27, 2011 in Suffolk, NY. “It’s an honor for me to be recognized by the Jewish community for what my team and I accomplished this past February, as well as for my entire athletic career,” Steve said. “I can not wait to have my family there with me and know how proud my grandparents would have been.”

“It gives the athletes a feeling of competition of people that they’re not used to competing against. It gets them outside of their comfort zone and makes them push themselves further because they’re not just competing against western New York athletes or southern athletes, all of a sudden it’s people from all over the state,” said Steve Mesler, Olympic gold medal winner in the men’s bobsled competition in the 2010 Vancouver Games.

Western New York native Steve Mesler recently spoke to Kenmore East freshman students during their monthly “Brown Bag Speaker’s Series” and met fellow Olympians during a tour of the high school. The man who struck gold during the 2010 Winter Olympics as a member of the United States bobsled team stopped by the special education classes of teachers Linda Miller and Mike Roy and met many students who won ribbons during Special Olympics competitions.
BATAVIA — Rubbing shoulders with his former Buffalo Bills idols was just the latest thrill of this spring for U.S. Olympian Steve Mesler. Mesler, the gold-medal-winning bobsledder from Buffalo, was one of the celebrities at Jim Kelly’s 24th annual golf tournament Monday at Terry Hills Golf Course.
Steve talks about how his life has changed since winning gold
Two months after bringing home the gold in the Winter Olympics, Buffalo bobsledder Steve Mesler stood Wednesday in the East Room of the White House and heard a man’s voice calling.
“Hey, it’s the bobsled team!” cried the voice, from 40 feet away. Turning and looking toward who was calling him, Mesler saw President Obama.
Four members of the U.S. Olympic team who medaled in the recent Winter Games in Vancouver visited Luke Air Force Base April 15 and 16. The trip brought the Olympians to the West Valley to meet Luke’s Airmen and see activities the base performs each day.
Mayor Byron W. Brown today honored Steve Mesler, United States Olympian and champion bobsledder, for his gold medal achievement in the 2010 Olympic Games by presenting Mesler with a Key to the City and declaring March 10, 2010 as Steve Mesler Day in the City of Buffalo.
